Attendance on 10th ESDI conference(September, 2024)
The 10th Eurasian SDI Conference, titled ‘Strategy on Sustainable Geospatial Data for ESDI Member States’, was held from September 25th to 28th 2024 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Attendees included member countries(Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Belarus, and Tajikistan) and Observer countries (Azerbaijan, Russia) as well as representatives from Korean enterprises.   During the Conference, member states discussed a wide range of topics concerning geospatial information, including current issues, policy trends, and development strategies.   The Conference also provided a dedicated networking session for Korean enterprises in the geospatial information sector and member countries. Through this session, Korean companies were able to showcase their technical capabilities and establish pathways for overseas expansion.   Additionally, Korea’s National Geographic Information Institute and Mongolia’s Agency for Land administration and management, geodesy and cartography renewed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the shared goal of enhancing technical cooperation in the geospatial information sector.   *The initial MOU between Korea (NGII) and Mongolia (Agency for Land administration and management, geodesy and cartography) was signed in 2011. The updated version includes provisions for cooperation in ①GIS/LIS, ②3D mapping, and ③survey and spatial data quality management and standards, reflecting the latest advances in spatial information technology.   Moreover, the Eurasian SDI Policy Consultative Committee convened concurrently with the conference, bringing together seven member countries to discuss strategies for strengthening and advancing the ESDI cooperation framework.
