Attendance on 13th committee of Expert on UN-GGIM(August, 2023)

The 13th session of the United Nations committee of Experts on global geospatial information Management (UN-GGIM) was held during 2nd to 4th of August 2023 at headquarter of UN in New York with 282 participants from 80 member countries.

 

The committee was convened on the heels of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) resolution 2022/24, adopted on 22 July 2022, reiterated the importance of strengthening and enhancing the effectiveness of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management.

 

Particularly for the achievement of its operations focused on the Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework, to strengthen and ensure its continued effectiveness and benefits to all Member States.

 

Our delegation expressed its appreciation for the activities of HLG-IGIF.

As a new member of HLG-IGIF and an executive board member of UN-GGIM-AP, NGII has revealed its strong ambition in activities that correspond with strategic goals through the IGIF (WG4) Working Group and HLG-IGIF.

 

The delegation of the 13th committee consisted of National Geographic Information Institute(NGII), Statistics Korea and related field experts. NGII successfully served as the leader of the delegation following the 12th committee last year.

 

The 14th session of the Committee of Experts shall be held at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 7 to 9 August 2024.
