Attendance on 14th committee of Expert on UN-GGIM(August, 2024)

The 14th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) 

was held at the United Nations Headquarters from August 4th to 11th, 2024, in New York, United States, with total of 346 

participants from 75 member countries and 80 international organizations.

 

The Committee of Experts meeting was held together with the 4th High-Level Group-Integrated Geospatial Information

 Framework plenary meeting(August 5th to 6th), both aiming to strengthen global leadership in the geospatial information sector, 

continuing sustainable international cooperation and present South Korea’s position.

 

The meeting consisted of the issues related to the upcoming 13th UN-GGIM-AP meeting, a bilateral cooperation meeting, 

and the 14th UN-GGIM meeting. It provided a platform for the exchange of insights, best practices, and capacity development 

related to geospatial innovation among member countries.

 

The meeting facilitated the sharing of accomplishments on 19 agenda items and allowed countries to present their perspectives, 

with a focus on urging continuous implementations of the UN-IGIF and proactive activities of the UN Global Center to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).

 

As the host country of the Inaugural meeting of UN-GGIM(2011, Seoul), the Republic of Korea has participated in the annual plenary meeting since 2011.

 

As a follow up to this meeting, NGII plans to conduct a case study on South Korea’s Integrated Geospatial Information Framework(IGIF).

 The 15th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) shall be held in August 2025 in the United States.
