Executive Board Meeting on UN-GGIM-AP(May, 2024)

The 13th Executive Board Meeting of the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia-Pacific(UN-GGIM-AP)

was held on May 6th to 8th, 2024 in Sydney, Australia.

 

The Executive Board meeting was held together with the “Locate 24“ conference, performing

 as a platform for knowledge exchange and sharing recent trends in geospatial information.

 

This Executive Board meeting focused on discussion regarding the establishment and development of academic

 and private sector networks, current progress and achievements with future plans.

 

During the meeting, Director General Cho Woo Sug emphasized the role and participation of private sector networks, 

highlighting the need for close collaboration with them. He also stressed the importance of sharing both successful

and unsuccessful case studies to support the development of geospatial information infrastructure in countries with diverse cultures,

histories, and experiences. Additionally, he addressed the necessity of establishing a UN Asia-Pacific Geospatial information center.

 

Alongside the Executive Board meeting, NGII participated in the Locate 24 conference, analyzing current technical trends 

and engaging in networking opportunities with key organizations for future collaboration.

 

NGII plans to strengthen its activities with international organizations and serve as a pivotal platform on a national level.
